Terms

Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Tunnel mobile app and related services, operated by Tunnel Love LLC, a California limited liability company. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

What Tunnel is — and is not

Tunnel is a private, application-based network that introduces families to professional caregivers, with a focus on arrangements where a caregiver brings her own child to work so both children gain a companion who grows up alongside them. Our team reviews every application and makes introductions by hand; there is no browsing, search, or public profiles.

Tunnel makes introductions. Tunnel is not:

  • an employer of caregivers — caregivers are not employees or agents of Tunnel, and are not covered by any Tunnel insurance or employment policy;
  • an employment agency or staffing service — we do not secure employees for families, set or pay wages, or supervise care;
  • a party to any arrangement between members — if a family and caregiver decide to work together, their relationship is formed directly between them;
  • a childcare provider or licensed child care facility — Tunnel does not provide care.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You agree to provide accurate, current information in your application and to keep it updated. One account per person.

Our review is an effort, not a guarantee

Every family and every caregiver applies, and we review both sides — because trust has to go both ways. Our review may include your application, an interview, reference checks, and requests for verification materials. We may accept or decline any application, and may pause or revoke membership, at our discretion.

Our review is a good-faith screening effort. It is not a guarantee of any member’s character, qualifications, or conduct, and it is not a substitute for your own judgment. You remain solely responsible for interviewing, vetting, checking references, and deciding whether to work with anyone we introduce. Children’s safety decisions belong to parents and guardians.

Introductions and playdates

Before anyone signs anything, the children meet — both families present. A playdate is a mutual meeting attended and supervised by the parents of both families. It is not childcare and not a working interview, and no care services are provided by anyone. If, after a playdate, you want a trial period involving actual care, that trial is paid employment and must be agreed in writing first.

You also agree to:

  • use the service only to seek or provide childcare and companionship arrangements for your own family;
  • treat other members’ information as confidential — do not share or use profile or introduction information outside the service;
  • not use the service to recruit members for another platform or business, to harass anyone, or to misrepresent yourself.

If you form an arrangement, the family is the employer

If a family and caregiver enter a care arrangement, the family is the caregiver’s employer — not Tunnel. The family and caregiver are solely responsible for complying with applicable law, including payroll, tax, minimum wage and overtime, workers’ compensation, and paid sick leave requirements for household employees in California.

The Co-Mom Agreement we provide is a template offered as a convenience — a framework covering schedules, sick days, backup care, and how the arrangement ends. It is not legal advice, and only the family and caregiver are parties to it. Have it reviewed by your own advisor before signing.

Fees

The service is currently offered without in-app fees. If we introduce fees in the future, we will tell you in advance and give you the opportunity to stop using the service before any fee applies.

Your content

You retain ownership of the information you submit and grant us a limited license to use it to operate the service — to review your application, make introductions, and communicate with you — consistent with our Privacy Policy.

Disputes between members

Any dispute between a family and a caregiver — including disputes arising from an introduction, a playdate, or an arrangement — must be resolved directly between them. Tunnel is not a party to member disputes. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Tunnel Love LLC from claims arising out of the acts or omissions of, or your relationship with, any other member.

Termination

You may stop using the service and request account deletion at any time via support@tunnelmiles.com. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms, safety concerns, or misuse of the service.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied; we do not warrant that any introduction will result in an arrangement or that any member is suitable for your family. Meeting people and arranging care involves inherent risks that no screening can eliminate, and you assume those risks when you use the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tunnel Love LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any dispute, injury, or loss arising from an arrangement between members; our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. You agree to indemnify Tunnel Love LLC against claims arising from your breach of these terms or any arrangement you enter with another member.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect; continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.
